Talking ‘Bout My Girl

Our threenager, Taylor, is a girl of many expressions, and she keeps our days interesting, to say the least. She’s full of sugar and spice. First she’s sour, then she’s sweet. She takes care of her baby dolls with such TLC,  but she can also take down her big brother in a wrestling match. She’ll go from playing barbies in her bedroom to racing cars with her big brother without missing a beat. She’s a country girl, and she loves tagging along in the woods with her daddy; but she also loves twirling in her girly dresses and all things pretty. She’s got a big personality, and I love watching it develop more and more each day.

Just recently, I was trying to capture a few photos of Tay wearing a couple pieces of beautiful jewlery she received from The Orchid Fox, and she had me rolling with some of her silly facial expressions. These photos are just too good not to share. So, here I am sharing some of her best shots along with some of her silliest. I hope you get a kick out of them, just as I do

Enjoy! XOXO

Valentine’s Mini Shoot & Bloopers

As the mother of three, I have learned that getting a “frame worthy” pic of my littles can be quite the trick. I’ve also learned that for every one GOOD photo we capture, there will be about 200 to scrap. Someone is usually blinking or whining or fighting or coughing or moving or crying or drooling or laughing or pushing or bored or “CHEESE-ing” too hard or…you name it – and it’s probably been a part of our photo sessions. But…it’s teaching me patience, that’s for sure!

I’ve come to absolutely love the candid shots, and as I was going through the Valentine’s photos I snapped of the kids, the “blooper” shots had me giggling. I just had to share a few of our outtakes. So here you are – the best, the worst, and the bloopers…

Happy Valentine’s Day!! <3

Master Bedroom Makeover: BEFORE

As promised, here are the BEFORE photos of our bedroom makeover. We are currently in the process of giving our master bedroom a little facelift, and I will be showing the AFTER photos as soon as we wrap things up. My wonderful and talented husband works full time (and OVER time) so he is tackling this project in his spare time. Bless his heart! As much as I like to hurry things along, I’m practicing my patience and trying to enjoy the process. 🙂

Laundry Basket Babies

^A display of photos for Jake’s 1st birthday party!

A tradition I started – kind of by accident – when my oldest son was a newborn, was to take a photo of him each month in the same laundry basket. I actually took his first photo at just a few days old. When he was a month old, I was doing laundry one day and wanted to see how much he had grown. So I snapped a quick photo. At two months old, I did the same…and so on. I loved seeing his growth each month!

Now, I’m on my third baby and have continued this tradition for each child every month through their first birthday. I display several of these photos in my laundry room. On those crazy days when the laundry is piling up and I find myself complaining that it never ends, I see their photos and I am reminded that it is a BLESSING to do their laundry – not a chore. I am thankful for every single day I get to spend with them, and I’m beyond blessed to have three little loves (and a wonderful hubby) who create these piles of laundry for me. I’ll be completely honest, laundry is not my favorite thing to do. But seeing each of their sweet, little, happy faces in the very laundry basket that I am using reminds me to count my blessings and to serve my family with a cheerful heart.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine…” Proverbs 17:22
